Banks

Barclays Bank

14 King St, Truro TR1 2RB, UK – 0345 734 5345

Banked here for years... Got fed up with queuing, now i bank elsewhere. Access for buggies is annoying. Even worse if u r disabled. Better banks are available. Not very competitive rates, for anything. No criticism of the staff.

The Co-op Bank - Truro

7 - 8 St Nicholas Street, Truro TR1 2RL, UK – 01872 273573

Friendly staff who know what they are talking about and you only have to interact with a machine if you want to. A breath of fresh air in the world of banking

Google street shows it as Britannia, but it is The Co-Operative Bank now, and it's blue!! Recently opened an account here, and very impressed with the service and quiet peaceful interior. The young manager is very helpful and personable...a pleasure to do business with.

Local Chambers of Commerce for TR1 1YH. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. What you put in is exactly what you get out. Below is the national site. Watch this slot - it might improve!
Truro City Council Parks Depot

Dental Surgeries

Lander Dentistry

3 Upper Lemon Villas, Lemon Street, Truro TR1 2PD, UK – 01872 272777

After getting some consultations from other dentists I was recommended to go to Lander Dentistry by a friend. I am so happy I did. The practice is stunning and the girls working there are so friendly and welcoming. I was a little nervous but Mark Pimble is just amazing and put me at ease straight away and I was very excited at how good he promised he could make my teeth look (I told him I didn't want to look like Rylan!) and that promise he delivered. I'm 51 and my teeth looked 'tired' with amalgam fillings showing through the enamel meaning I'd really lost my smile. Mark took before and after photographs. I had crown work and some white fillings redone. I am just over the moon with the final appearance of my teeth. They look so natural I smile all the time and one of my children actually told me to stop smiling so much! Needless to say I've taken no notice & smile all the time.

I was 59 years of age before I plucked up the courage to do something about my teeth. They weren't too bad, but a long way from perfect, my bottom set were very crossed and uneven, and getting worse. I used my hand a lot when I smiled! I saw 4 dentists for advice before I settled on Mark Pimble. It's a big step and expensive so you want the best. He advised me to have braces top and bottom. I hated the thought, but he said I'd get a better result than Invisalign and all the other options. He was honest and straightforward about what to expect and very encouraging along the way. It took just six months to straighten them. I then had some veneers at the front, what a transformation! I have no doubt at all that I made the right choice in Mark, his skills are exceptional, his manner calm and reassuring. He's also a bit of a perfectionist too, so expect top notch results. I've seen some peoples teeth after treatment and you can tell they've had them done they look so false! With Mark you are assured of a natural beautiful smile. He really is the best. Oh by the way, I've stopped using my hand now when I smile!

Oak House Dental Practice

13 St George's Rd, Truro TR1 3JE, UK – 01872 222922

Kind, trustworthy and professional and good value for money, best dentist I have ever been to.

The River Practice Specialist Centre

Castle Mews, Castle St, Truro TR1 3AF, UK – 01872 242444

After seeing the gorgeous smile of my daughter following orthodontics carried out by Jeremy at The River Street Practice I decided to have a consultation with Jeremy myself, and I am so glad I did. I have just had my brace off and i am so delighted with the results. I cannot recommend this practice and all the staff enough. I will definitely be returning to the Practice for any further treatment and am already recommending my friends and family.

I decided at the age of 44 to have have my crooked teeth and over bite sorted out. I went to River Practice as my son had already been treated there previously and been very pleased with the results. The service I received was fantastic. The lovely ladies on reception are always friendly and do their best to accommodate your preferred appointment time. The first assessment was accurate and I was given a clear idea of the process. The x rays and moulds of my teeth were completed by a efficient and friendly practitioner. Jeremy's dental nurse is friendly, efficient and reassuring. Finally after I have to say Jeremy's persistence with my awkward teeth has paid off and I am delighted with the results. I would recommend this practice to anyone.

Three Spires Medical Practice

Truro Health Park, Infirmary Hill, Truro TR1 2JA, UK – 01872 272272

Excellent medical practice with terrific very empathetic Doctors and efficient staff. Modern centrally located building but parking is tight so it's best to walk or get a lift if possible. On site pharmacy. We feel very fortunate to have this Health Centre and it's universally superb hard working personel at Three Spires as our GP practice. Keep up the good work, you are all very much appreciated.

Great front of house staff and the doctors are wonderful and helpful couldn't wish for better

Lander Medical Practice

Truro Health Park, Infirmary Hill, Truro TR1 2JA, UK – 01872 243700

Very nice looking place, and great patient system. I have moved quite a lot and seen and registered with various GP's but unfortunately despite how big the place is, it has been the worst for GP's. Wait is slow even when you are pretty much the first appointment, but the main problem was the GP just wasn't interested ... didn't notice any of my current medical history despite it being on the screen as I have access to it as well or really take note of anything at all .... maybe a bad day? or morning .... either way just got fobbed off to someone else. If other appointments are better will update.

Booking an appointment was ok, called up early got an appointment that day. Once called for an emergency appointment and got one in a couple of hours. One GP said, have you tried ignoring it? Hmm... Once was given leaflets from a very disbelieving GP that I actually had symptoms. Average wait past appointment time was 20 minutes. I don't go unless I need to (never go for a cold, these were things I had tried and failed to remedy at home), several times I left feeling like they didn't want to try and fix the problem. The one time I felt someone really tried it was a trainee who really seemed sympathetic.

Royal Cornwall Hospital

Treliske, Truro TR1 3LQ, UK – 01872 250000

I have been in and out of the St Mawes Lounge and Ward for the last couple of days. The lounge is super conformable and relaxing with a great fish tank and TV to watch. I have spent the last 7 hours testing the big blue chairs and they still haven't sent my bum to sleep. Top notch! The team looking after me yesterday Jonathan, Laura and Rosie amoungst others were extremely kind and helpful and provided some light hearted humour which is always most welcome when you're not feeling well. Overall apart from the long waiting time to see various professionals the service was excellent and made me feel very safe and comfortable. I would therefore like to thank all the team from the bottom of my heart!

Mandarin Garden Chinese Restaurant

114 Kenwyn St, Truro TR1 3DJ, UK – 01872 272374

Friendly service and good food... Cool fish tanks too :)

I and my wife have been to the Manderin Garden for lunch on many occasions. It is family run and very welcoming but certainly not fussy if you want privacy. The food is very tasty and always hot; it is a most pleasant experience and, the lunch time prices are cheap. It is not normally necessary to book for lunch but they do get quite full at times. I have not visited in the evening but intend to when circumstances allow.

Manning's Restaurant Bar & Hotel

Mannings Hotel, 80 Lemon St, Truro TR1 2QB, UK – 01872 247900

Nice food and great service. Friendly and helpful without being snotty. Steak burger was a bit overdone, but salad was really good. Good coffee too. No problem tweaking the menu to suit either. Reasonable prices. Food took ages though.

Friendly atmosphere, fabulous menus and decent wine! Our favourite restaurant in Truro, never fails to impress, even after many years. Gets better and better.

Polwhele House

Truro TR4 9AE, UK – 01872 273011

My son is a year 8 chorister at Polwhele House, a prep and pre-prep school near Truro in Cornwall. He has had an amazing experience so far. Academically he is excelling with all the extra help and pastoral support available from the highly experienced and inspiring teachers. The music education he has is first rate both at school and of course at Truro Cathedral. The vast range of opportunties he has been given during his time at the school have enabled him to excel, even qualifying and competing in sporting activities both at county and national levels. Polwhele House preparatory school really has given him the best start we could ever have hoped for and he has made some wonderful friends - as have we! It really is a fabulous school.
