We arranged our 'works Christmas do' here and stayed here for a night as we didn't want to drive all the way back to Devon the same evening. The location is convenient and easy to find. The venue is terrific, in the old chapel and really nicely presented. Service and food were good, the room a high standard and the cost perfectly acceptable. Recommended. We repeated our works Christmas event here in 2017 and we're just as impressed as before. We upgraded our rooms this time and were delighted with both the quality and value for money. Very convenient location just outside the city centre (walking distance).
Just attended a wedding here on 4th March. This hotel was spectacular and a beautiful setting. The staff were extremely efficient, friendly and communicative. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the service fantastic. Would totally recommend anybody hoping to find a wedding venue to choose The Alverton Hotel.

Easy to use site, compared other sites for same theatre and hotel deal and this one seemed the best for what we wanted. Received a confirmation email on booking and then a second email a couple days before to confirm that they had spoken to the hotel and all was ready for us. We had to collect the tickets from the box office and this was very straight forward. Would use again, can’t say a bad word about my experience.
The hotel was good and train journey as expected. Only downside is that it was not made clear that the package was non refundable and that the seats were not actually reserved, although we were given allocated seat numbers. Other passengers had the same seat numbers which led to some confusion and upset.

Staff are lovely and friendly when dining there. Great menu nice and varied and managed to eat here when on a keto food regime which is always a bonus. Lovely surroundings and right in the city centre. Always a good experience
Stunning food and amazing staff. Everything cooked to perfection

Stopped for a couple of cocktails. They were well priced. Top marks to the bar girl who took a lot of time and effort getting them together and they tasted amazing. Would visit again.
The best beef roast I've had in ages. We also had the honeycomb milkshake which was yum! Service was great too!

Fantastic food and very friendly lovely waitresses. It was really busy for Sunday lunch but we weren’t once forgotten or made to wait and the roast dinner was the best I’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be back this is a new fave!
A good selection of everyones favourites and good quality real ale on draft. Food has always been good. The city pub with an out of town feel. Alround great place to experience.

Really excellent pub, lots of choice for ales. I'm not a lager drinker but they have a choice of those, fruit wines and of course spirits. Food upstairs is pretty good and a nice seating area away from the downstairs. Quite often have live bands etc, normally pretty good atmosphere. Good staff and good beer. Can't really go wrong with The Old Ale House.
Great atmosphere. Fantastic people. Excellent bar staff. Amazing selection of ales! TONIGHT, I'd gone to get usual beer, and surprisingly, there's a gig on. Wow! Top night.!

I was booked into the Townhouse for a 1 night stay and was thoroughly impressed. The room was immaculately clean and very well presented with all the little extras that make a difference, toiletries, hairdryer, iron, kettle, it may seem obvious but when travelling light for business these items are essential. The welcome was friendly and informative and the breakfast/afternoon tea options superb. It is so nice to be left alone to dine or snack independently rather than being fussed over which can sometimes be too much for a frequent traveller. I was very impressed, will definitely recommend the Townhouse and absolutely will return.
It was so lovely to stop there. The room was nice and clean, good quality of the facilities. Different kind of tea and coffee, water and cakes. TV and computer are in the kitchen as well. The people there are very very nice ! It is just about the town centre , 5 minutes walking . Very easy to get to bus stop and train station . And very close the the cinema where you can get £5 ticket every Monday! Love it!

The staff were very kind and helpful. We asked if we could move rooms because of two flights of stairs and this was done for us. I liked that you could make your own toast instead of waiting for someone to bring it to you.
Quite a reasonably priced hotel but a little dated, in terms of decor and furnishing. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was cooked quite well. However, the walls were thin, the bed wasn't terribly comfortable and the sheets smelt as if they hadn't been aired properly. Good in a pinch or for a low cost option but a few improvements could make it stand out in its class.
If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Kate and Phil were very welcoming, they showed us round and gave good advice. The showers are unisex with separate male and female toilets and wash up rooms and are all in one building, they are very modern and clean. There is also a comfy lounge you can use with books and magazines to read and wifi is free too. The site is situated in a good location for getting around. Kate & Phil are really pleasant and have invested a lot of time and money into making their site amazing. We had a lovely stay there and would highly recommend the site to stay in.
Lovely secluded park. Immaculately kept and looked after by the owners. Good facilities, has everything you need. LOVE IT ♥
